The Chesapeake Paddlers Association provides swimmer support for the annual Chesapeake Bay Swim. This is a 4.4 mile swim that begins at Sandy Point State park on the western shore and ends at Hemingway's Restaurant on the eastern shore. The swim course is bounded by the two spans of the Chesapeake Bay Bridge. We had beautiful weather; a bit hot with temps in the middle 90's, but gentle breezes from the north and mild, rolling swells. Recently I've been asked a lot of questions about paddles. These seem to fall into three categories: What do I need to do to/care for my paddle?, What causes my paddle to...?, and What do I do next? construction questions. These are worth sharing because they seem to be common issues.
If you have a question or concern about your paddle, post it. I'm pretty confident that someone has faced the same concern previously and has an explanation or solution.
